Systems Analyst

Aircraft Maintenance System Mapping at Iran Air

During a three-month internship at Iran Air, I documented how aircraft-maintenance information moved across engineering, planning, scheduling, stock, shops, and quality. The work produced a comprehensive report, appendices, and detailed system maps covering both manual processes and interactions among multiple operational systems.

My role

Industrial engineering intern; conducted the systems analysis and authored the report, appendices, and system maps.

What was created

I produced a comprehensive report describing how Iran Air’s aircraft-maintenance information system operated across organizational boundaries. The analysis covered both manual and system-supported activities, including the documents, records, task cards, schedules, work orders, overhaul projects and handoffs through which maintenance information moved.

The report examined how multiple operational systems, organizations, departments, and manual processes worked together across production engineering, flight and maintenance planning, aircraft work scheduling, component control, repair shops, stock control, quality control, and technical support. Detailed appendices preserved the supporting process descriptions, diagrams, and reference material.

One of the principal visual artifacts was an integrated engineering and maintenance production-control map. It connected organizational responsibilities with information and material flows, tracing the maintenance process from requirements and planning through work execution, parts handling, inspection, and aircraft release.

Together, the report, appendices, and system maps provided an end-to-end representation of a complex, partly manual maintenance information environment.

Discuss an Industry or Research Problem

I collaborate with asset-intensive organizations, research teams, and technical founders on problems involving maintenance, fleets, reliability, asset lifecycle, operational modeling, and system architecture.

If your organization has data, analytical models, or technical capability but still lacks a usable decision system, I would be interested in understanding the problem. Schedule a 20-minute introductory conversation to discuss the problem, its current constraints, and whether there is a useful basis for collaboration.
